We co-hosted a new international architecture festival, RISING, which took place for the first time ever this September in Copenhagen.
RISING is a two-day conference combined with a week of activities throughout the cities of Copenhagen and Aarhus in Denmark. This year, the main event took place in Copenhagen, while the pre-event was hosted in Aarhus – in 2017, Denmark’s two first cities will swop places.
50+ activities all over the capital
The ambition was to challenge people’s perception of architectural norms, stimulate imagination and invite participants to create and explore. And thus, it featured both a conference with keynote speakers – such as Snøhetta’s Kjetil Trædal Thorsen and COBE’s Dan Stubbergaard – and more than 50 events throughout Copenhagen: guided tours, movies, boat trips, site visits, debates, and much, much more.
The numerous participants included Aarhus School of Architecture showcasing refugee cities and oyster farms, the landscape architects from Schønherr demonstrating climate adaption, C.F. Møller giving a presentation on sustainable building design, Schmidt Hammer Lassen on third places… and many, many more.
RISING Architecture Week was hosted by Werksted and The Architecture Project, and we have already started the planning for 2017.
